Godwin said she was invited to attend through PHCC’s role in Achieving the Dream, which is a national nonprofit dedicated to helping more community college students, particularly low-income students and minorities, stay in school and earn a college credential.
The event, hosted by President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, focuses on new actions that will increase opportunities for college. Godwin said she is honored to receive such an invitation.
“The Obama Administration has made college opportunities for low-income, disadvantaged students and first-generation students a priority – one that remains at the heart of PHCC’s mission,” she said. “Having the opportunity to share on a national platform what we’re doing every day to ensure success for all students, especially our underrepresented population, is exciting. This is a time for us to represent our community well, and to show our strength and resilience.”
The event will take place Thursday, Jan. 16. For additional questions or information, contact the White House Press Office at .
