Barbara Waldron of Martinsville has been named the Advising and Articulation Liaison/Coordinator for Patrick Henry Community College and New College Institute. This new position will serve as the liaison between academic program faculty at PHCC and NCI, share knowledge of both NCI and PHCC academic programs and curricula, and advise prospective and enrolled students for PHCC and NCI programs.
Waldron attended the University of Northern Iowa, and holds associate degrees from PHCC in general engineering and industrial engineering, and a bachelor of business administration from Averett University. She has also completed graduate courses in education at Virginia Tech and ODU.
Before assuming this position, Waldron had been with NCI since 2008 when she became the Coordinator of Recruitment and Information. Prior to working with NCI, she was a business teacher at Franklin County High School in Rocky Mount.
Waldron has been involved in the community as volunteer for the VITA “Taxes Done Free” program for five years, a board member of the Community Recovery Program, past board member of Crimestoppers, and past president of Blue Ridge Human Resource Association. She also completed the University of Virginia New Civic Leaders program.
She has two grown children, Nick and Kate, and enjoys her dogs, walking, yoga, traveling (nearly anywhere!), the sound of the ocean and good music.
