Janet Copenhaver graduated from PHCC in 1982 with Associate in Arts and Sciences degrees in Education and General Studies. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Library Science from Radford University and a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Radford University. Copenhaver has worked for the Henry County Public School system for 21 years, the past 15 of which as Director of Technology and Media. She is credited with placing the school system as a forerunner in emerging technologies and has shared her expertise with other school systems in the state to implement similar technological activities. She has received the Educational Technology Leadership Region VI Award, the Learn and Serve Technology Leadership Award, the Smithsonian Award for Laptop Program, the Ohana National Award, and the Southern Piedmont Technology Award. Copenhaver has made numerous presentations at technology conferences in Virginia, Tennessee, Florida, North Carolina, and New York. She holds memberships in Delta Kappa Gamma, BRETC Consortium, Southern Piedmont Technology Committee, the State VEMA Committee, and Blue Ridge Public Television.
