Nursing (RN)

The Patrick Henry Community College Registered Nursing (RN) program typically accepts program applications twice a year- once during the fall and once during the spring semester. The program has adopted a new statewide curriculum which officially begins in fall 2018.

The next RN application cycle is September 24 - 28. Download the application or get it from the nursing office in Philpott 123. The application is open to both traditional students and LPN to RN Transition students. If you have questions regarding the application please contact the Amber Shelton at (276) 656-0297 or email .

Students are encouraged to speak with a Nursing Advisor to review our NEW RN admission requirements. You can find the advising hours at our Health Careers Advising page.

RN Pre-Admission Testing:

Students who have applied and met the pre-application and pre-requisite requirements will be invited to take the Kaplan Nursing School Admissions Test.
The test covers Science (Anatomy and Physiology), Math, Reading, Writing, and Critical Thinking.

Nursing Admission Test study guides (e.g. HESI Admission Exam Review and Kaplan Nursing School Entrance Exams Study Guide) are on reserve in the Learning Resource Center (LRC) on the main PHCC campus.
