Welcome to Patrick Henry Community College's job application process! We are now using the Virginia Jobs online process for all full time positions.

Online applications must be submitted for all full time vacancies. In addition to the online application, faculty position applications must include a resume and copies of applicable college transcripts.

The Virginia Jobs website requires you to have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed. A free download is available at Adobe. An email address is also required to apply online. If you do not have one, you can sign up for free email at Hotmail, Yahoo!Mail or Excite. It takes only a few minutes to register.

First time users of the online job application process will need to create an account and select a "Username" and "Password" through the Recruitment Management System (RMS) on the Virginia Jobs website. To protect the security of your data, the system will log you out if it detects no activity for 30 minutes. This could cause you to lose the data you entered. It is important to have all documents ready before beginning the application process. After entering RMS on the Virginia Jobs website, you will not be able to click on the "back" button to return to our website. Click here to create your RMS account and apply online.

First time users will find the User's Guide helpful. The guide provides step-by-step instructions and will walk you through the process of creating your username, searching for jobs, creating an online application, and procedures for applying for vacant positions. Continuation of position is contingent upon renewal of grant funding

Application Deadline: Review of applications begins February 22, 2010, and serious applicants should have all materials submitted by this date. However, applications will be accepted until position has been filled.

Duties & Responsibilities: Patrick Henry Community College is seeking an individual to teach math to include developmental and/or statistics that incorporates the use of SAS Programming. The math specialist faculty will collaborate extensively with developmental and on-level math faculty to examine the specifics of each of the available math courses to ensure validity and continuity of topics. The math faculty will advise students and incorporate the use of statistical modeling and risk analysis into the advising process. The selected candidate is expected to: 1) communicate and work effectively with community college students of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds; 2) use active learning that emphasize cooperation and collaboration; 3) motivate students to develop higher-order thinking skills; 4) ability to integrate subject area with other related curricula; and 5) capacity to be flexible. Additional requirements include community college teaching experience, strong technology skills; a commitment to the mission of the community college; and the ability and desire to work collaboratively with other college employees to enhance instruction, curriculum, and expedite student success. This is a 9-month faculty position. This position is 100% grant funded and is contingent upon renewal of grant funding.

Salary: Minimum $40,061.00, based on qualifications and experience; plus excellent benefits package. This is a grant-funded position with continuation contingent upon renewal of grant funding.

Minimum Qualifications: Master’s Degree with 18 graduate hours in math and/or statistics. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, and maintain a high level of interpersonal skills with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population. Successful candidate will possess strong technology skills; demonstrated knowledge of SAS programming; and demonstrated experience in the use of academic assessment to enhance student learning.

EDUCATION SUPPORT SPECIALIST III, #R0050 - DEVELOPMENTAL EDUCATION ADVISOR 01/29/10

Duties & Responsibilities: Under direction, provide academic advice to students using both statistical and other available tools; advise students on the development of educational plan options and resources available, and makes appropriate referrals to assist students in evaluation of their educational progress; act as an advocate and an interdepartmental liaison; assist and train other academic and instructional advisors; maintain detailed data; develop and implement activities in accordance with local and grant policies and perform related work as required. This position is 100% grant funded and is contingent upon renewal of grant funding.

Salary: Minimum $31,352, based on qualifications and experience; plus excellent benefits package. This is a grant-funded position with continuation contingent upon renewal of grant funding.

Minimum Qualifications: Education, experience and/or training equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in counseling or related field that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the job required. At least one year experience working with college students in an academic counseling capacity in a college setting. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, and maintain a high level of interpersonal skills with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population. Successful candidate will have the ability to work independently with minimum supervision; plan and give presentations to individuals and groups; monitor, track, and compile statistical information; demonstrate sensitivity to, and respect for a diverse population; and maintain cooperative working relationships. Have a working knowledge of the use of statistics and proficient in the use of computers.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in counseling or related field and prior experience in academic advising or teaching experience in a college or school is a plus.

Duties & Responsibilities: Patrick Henry Community College is seeking an individual to manage the PHCC Math Lab to ensure students receive instructional support in all math courses. Duties and responsibilities include provide tutoring in math subjects from numerical skills to calculus; work closely with the Tutor Coordinator to recruit, train, supervise and evaluate math lab assistants; collaborate with math faculty to provide math instructional opportunities; design, develop and deliver math workshops and seminars; assist students in math lab procedures and use of computers; market the math lab to students, faculty and staff; establish and maintain records/materials/communications involving daily operation of math Lab; provide accurate information to students, staff & faculty in a timely and courteous manner; maintain math lab website; supervise math tutors; maintain current math lab statistics and assist with evaluation and assessment of math assistance program as required by state and appropriate grant; and other duties as assigned. This position is 100% grant funded and is contingent upon renewal of grant funding.

Salary: Minimum $23,999.00, based on qualifications and experience; plus excellent benefits package. This is a grant-funded position with continuation contingent upon renewal of grant funding.

Minimum Qualifications: Education, experience and/or training equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in math or math related field that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the job required. Experience with teaching and tutoring is required. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, and maintain a high level of interpersonal skills with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population. Successful candidate will have impeccable record-keeping skills; a strong sense of commitment and ethics; a strong commitment to community college students; and the ability to produce effective presentations. This position does require evening and weekend hours.
