The daylong course, Selling Your Timber, will be held at Patrick Henry Community College in Stuart on Feb. 27. Topics covered include protecting your timber resources, planning a timber harvest, timber harvest considerations, the timber sale process, finances, and forest certification.
Forest landowners interested in harvesting timber from their woodlot for the first time have many questions to be answered before felling the first tree.
Virginia Cooperative Extension and the Virginia Forest Landowner Education Program in Virginia Tech’s College of Natural Resources and Environment will host a short course to help landowners learn how to harvest and sell their timber in a biologically and economically sound manner.
Pre-registration is required, as space is limited on a first-come, first-served basis. The registration fee of $25 per person, which covers materials, lunch, and refreshments, is due one week before the course date.
