Applications for the Patrick Henry Scholars and the Commonwealth Legacy Scholars scholarships are being accepted by Patrick Henry Community College (PHCC).
The deadline to apply is 4 p.m. March 29.
Each year, up to 10 graduates from accredited local high schools in the region are chosen to receive full-tuition scholarships to attend PHCC for one academic year. These graduates are chosen for superior academic achievement, civic involvement and leadership potential to become a Patrick Henry Scholar. Students who have maintained a 3.2 grade point average on a 4.0 scale during their high school program are encouraged to apply.
Patrick Henry Scholars are selected by a committee of the board of the Patrick Henry Community College Foundation.
A Patrick Henry Scholar must maintain a 3.2 grade point average and be a full-time student (enrolled in at least 12 credits). The tuition award will be made for up to 15 credit hours at PHCC and may be renewed the following academic year if the student remains eligible and funds are available.
The Commonwealth Legacy Scholars program is a Virginia Community College System-wide scholarship program sponsored by the Foundation for Community College Education. One student from each of the 23 colleges in the VCCS is selected for this merit-based scholarship.
Eligible students are full-time, associate degree-seeking students attending college for the first time who have demonstrated academic excellence during high school as well as a commitment to develop their leadership skills.
Applications for both scholarships can be found on the PHCC website homepage or on the scholarship page. Other scholarships offered through the PHCC Foundation open April 1 and will be posted on the college’s website.
