Dr. Susan T. Gooden (2011)

Dr. Susan Tinsley Gooden earned an Associate in Arts and Science in General Studies from PHCC in 1988. She continued her education to earn a Bachelor of Art in English and a Master of Art in Political Science from Virginia Tech. She also earned a Master of Art in Political Science and a Ph.D. in Political Science from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University. Currently, she serves as a Professor at the Wilder School of Government and Public Affairs at Virginia Commonwealth University, where she is also Executive Director of the Grace E. Harris Leadership Institute. Before that, she was Director of Graduate Programs and an Associate Professor. Dr. Gooden is a member of several professional associations, including the association for Public Policy Analysis and management, American Society for Public Administration, National Association of American Schools of Public Affairs and Administration, and the Black Caucus Foundation. She has authored numerous publications and has been actively involved with Richmond’s Martin Luther King Jr. Living Museum and Public Policy Center, Community Housing Partners in Cambria, and the National Association for the Advancement of
Colored People.
