Clarence Monday graduated from PHCC in 1998 with an Associate in Arts and Science in Business Administration. He continued his education at Old Dominion University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration-Management, and a Master of Business Administration. He also attened the Executive Fire Office Program through the National Fire Academy. He currently serves as City Manager for the City of Martinsville. Prior to becoming City Manager, he was Fire Chief for the City of Martinsville, Emergency Medical Services Coordinator for Henry County, and Deputy Sheriff for Henry County. Additional experience includes Assistant Clerk to the Martinsville City Council, Adjunct Faculty at PHCC and National Business College, Board of Directors of Western Virginia Emergency Medical Services Council, and the Virginia EMS Advisory Council. Monday has received numerous awards in the EMS field including several Outstanding Service awards at the Bassett Rescue Squad, EMS Officer of the Year in 1990, Law Enforcement Officer of the Year in 1990, Lifesaving Award in 1996 and a Certificate of Meritorious Conduct in 1998. Additional awards include Chief’s Medal, Outstanding Pre-Hospital Instructor, and two Medals of Merit.
