Douglas Nunn earned an Associate in Applied Science in General Engineering from PHCC in 1995. He also earned a Certificate in Engineering Technology in 1994. Prior to enrolling at PHCC, he completed the Machinist Program at NNSB&DD Co. Apprentice School and graduated as a Certified Machinist from the Virginia Machine & Tool Co. Apprentice School. He worked at E.I. DuPont for 31 years and Invista for five before retiring. He has served as a volunteer firefighter at Fork Mountain Volunteer Fire Department since 1972 and was named Firefighter of the Year on three separate occasions. He has also served on the Board of Directors at Martinsville DuPont Credit Union since 1974 and is currently Vice-Chairman. He is also Captain of the Fork Mountain Volunteer Rescue Squad, a basketball coach for Henry Elementary School and Franklin County Parks and Recreation. He has also served on various PHCC committees related to engineering and technical programs and curriculum.
