Matt Tatum earned an Associate in Applied Science in Administration of Justice from PHCC in 2004. He continued his education by earning a Bachelor of Science in Public Safety Management from Franklin University. He is currently Emergency Management Services Coordinator and Deputy Emergency Manager for Henry County. Prior to joining the EMS Department, Tatum served as a trooper with the Department of State Police and a Police Officer for the Town of Rocky Mount. In addition to teaching as adjunct faculty at PHCC, Tatum serves as the chairman of the PHCC EMS Education Program Advisory Committee. He is a member of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Emergency Medical Services Advisory Council, the Virginia Emergency Medical Services Governor’s Advisory Board, the Virginia Emergency Managers Association, and the Virginia Association of Volunteer Rescue Squads. He is also a member of the United Way of Martinsville-Henry County Non-Profit Leaders Association, the American Heart Association, the Henry County Fire Code Board of Appeals, and the Henry County School Board-Career and Technical Education Advisory Board. He holds numerous EMS-related credentials and certifications.
