Patrick Henry Community College (PHCC) is a comprehensive two-year college of the Virginia Community College System, serving the City of Martinsville and the counties of Henry and Patrick.  PHCC serves approximately 3,500 credit and almost 2,700 non-credit students annually and, consistently ranks among the top ten “Most Tech-Savvy” community colleges in the country by the Center for Digital Education. It is one of the nation's 82 "Achieving the Dream" Leader Colleges. The college offers transfer programs, in addition to career-track and certification programs, and serves more than 200 employers through workforce development. It is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).


 
The Commonwealth of Virginia has gone through an upgrade of its online employment system for state government jobs to a newer version.  Applicants will be required to create a new account and application to apply to any new jobs going forward. Position Summary: 

Patrick Henry Community College is seeking a professional and team player to serve as the Workforce Systems Specialist.  The purpose of this position is to facilitate the initial application, enrollment and registration of new and current students in non-credit and credit classes offered through the Workforce, Economic & Community Development (WECD) division by providing accurate information regarding the college and its admission, enrollment and registration policies and procedures. The successful candidate will collaborate with the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) office on implementation and maintenance of a Workforce Enterprise System (WES) and non-credit issues with the Student Information System (SIS).

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, serve as the lead customer service contact for the WECD division; provide understanding of the admissions process and enroll non-credit students into SIS; collaborate with Admissions to ensure accurate and timely completion of documentation for credit-bearing courses; serve as liaison with VCCS office to resolve SIS issues and monitor the WES implementation and ongoing maintenance; serve as liaison between PHCC students and third party training providers; records management, including developing quality correspondence, spreadsheets, reports and databases; support and assist the Coordinator of Workforce Development Programs with career credit programs; and other duties as assigned.

Salary:  Minimum $24,479 based on qualifications and experience, plus excellent benefits package.

Minimum Qualifications: 

Education, training, and/or work experience equivalent to an Associate’s Degree in related area that demonstrate the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.

KSA’s and or Competencies required to successfully perform the work

  • Ability to interact professionally and effectively with the public, handling a variety of routine and non-routine situations which require independent decision-making
  • Ability to work with limited supervision following stated guidelines in a timely manner
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast—paced work environment
  • Ability to read, interpret and apply complex policies
  • Skill in data entry, keyboarding, and demonstrated competencies in computer software including word processing, database management, spreadsheet applications, electronic mail, and student information system
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; effective in communicating with students, administrative staff, faculty and parents
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment with a diverse student population
  • Knowledge of office practices, procedures, and equipment

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Associate’s degree
  • Experience working in a post-secondary educational environment
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience using PeopleSoft

Special Requirements
