Position Summary:

Patrick Henry Community College is seeking a Programmer/Analyst to provide and maintain state-of-the art information technology systems for the main campus and remote locations of the College. This position will be responsible for the analysis, design, and programming requirements to support the College PeopleSoft Student Information System (SIS), Accounting Information System (AIS), and Human Resources System (HRMS).  Meet with users to determine the resolution of customer service requests, write specs, code, test, and implement data extraction applications (e.g., queries, reports, etc.) primarily in a PeopleSoft environment. Troubleshoot and develop solutions to ensure data integrity and system reliability for the student services areas of the college.  Create training materials and conduct training sessions for the users.  Collaborate with administrators at other community colleges and the Virginia Community College System’s Student Services and Information Technology Services Department on SIS, AIS, and HRMS setup, testing and maintenance.  Serve on system deployment team to develop business processes for the entire community college system. Attend scheduled meetings and formal training and workshops as required.

Minimum Salary:

$41,778, based on qualifications; plus excellent benefits package.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education, training, and/or work experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the job. 

  • Proven experience and proficiency in creating moderate to highly complex SAS programs, SQL queries and reports using Oracle PeopleSoft reporting tools such as SQR, PSQuery, SQLPlus and Query/Crystal. 

  • Demonstrated system analysis, project management and project implementation skills including all steps of the IT “Systems Development Life Cycle” (i.e., analysis, design, programming, testing, and implementation).

  • Experience with Visual Basic, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, and database skills (programming and tables).

  • KSA’s and or Competencies required to successfully perform the work

    • Ability to work on multiple, complex projects involving network components and infrastructure to insure security, access, uninterrupted service and integration of new technologies. 

    • Prior exposure to PeopleSoft PeopleTools (Application Designer, Application Engine, Data Mover, PeopleCode); PC-based applications and languages. 

    • Ability to install, configure, maintain and program in Visual Basic, SAS, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft SQL Server.

    • In-depth understanding of analysis and programming technologies to be applied in a community college environment for the purpose of maximizing efficiency and effectiveness for data extraction applications (e.g., queries, reports, etc.) for PeopleSoft reporting, and database programming. 

    • Ability to develop technical solutions for reporting, query, database, and database programming needs as requested to meet College requests. 

    • Comprehensive knowledge and experience to perform work moderately complex and varied in translating and developing technical solutions for user system needs.

    • Ability to work independently on projects and provide guidance and training to staff and faculty for report generation for those reports.

    • Intermediate to Advanced computer literacy skills and experience in relational database designs using tables, stored procedures, database triggers, and other performance enhancing techniques.

    • Strong grammar and communication skills. 

    • Ability to apply and deliver technologies in emerging fields.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certifications desirable (e.g., SAS Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified Professional Developer (MCPD) and MySQL or SQL Server, etc.)

Position Description

Primary responsibility is teaching and maintaining office hours. Maintaining the instructional classroom and shop is required and assisting with student job placement is expected. Teaching assignments may include day and evening classes for program placed students and non-curricular students, and faculty participation in required faculty meetings. Opportunities for summer teaching will be based on student interest. PHCC currently offers a Certification in Automotive Technology and Career Studies Certificate in Automotive Engine Technology.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include teach courses in the Automotive Technology Program, create a student-oriented learning environment, and evaluate student learning in assigned courses. In addition to the teaching load, associate instructors will be responsible for an additional 12-19 hours of student engagement. Responsibilities may include work during the day and/or evening programs of the college, as well as its distance learning programs. This is a restricted 9-month associate instructor position to begin August 2014. A new contract can be offered for the next academic year at the sole discretion of the college and in consideration of the college’s needs at that time.

Hiring Range:

$33,010 - $57,043, plus excellent benefits package; salary is dependent upon education and experience.

High school diploma and several years’ experience in the field of Automotive Technology. Experience with Blackboard or other learning management system. Experience applying innovative technology applications to teaching and learning. Knowledge of, and experience with, proven teaching strategies that promote student success. Ability to troubleshoot automotive equipment for various processes. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate (oral and written communication), as well as the ability to work with students of varying abilities from diverse backgrounds. Candidates should possess sufficient technology skills to work productively in an organization that utilizes significant information and instructional technology resources.

Preferred Qualifications:

Associate degree or equivalent training in automotive analysis and repair. Industry certifications, ASE Master Automotive credentials in areas 1-8 and NATEF instructor certification is desirable. Prior teaching experience in related curriculum is a plus. Several years’ experience in the field of auto body.

Position Summary

Patrick Henry Community College is seeking an individual to perform general building maintenance and construction. Duties and responsibilities include carpentry, painting, electrical/plumbing repairs, and parts replacements. Move/arrange furniture in office/classroom; set up/take down tables and chairs for special events/conferences as needed or requested. Work with necessary tools and equipment, including motorized vehicles and farm type equipment, in performance of daily maintenance and operation of the college campus buildings and grounds. Perform general and preventive maintenance on college equipment, including weed eaters, chain saws, sidewalk edger's, push mowers, riding mowers, tractors, and snow equipment. Maintain all college cars and trucks in good running condition. In appropriate season, maintain lawns by fertilizing, spraying, mowing, weed eating and raking as needed. Weed flower and shrubbery beds; prune trees, shrubs and hedges; edge sidewalks and parking lots; repair and replace fencing; and perform snow and ice removal as needed. Drive college vehicles to area vendors for supplies and materials. Perform college-wide trash removal. Log-in shipments received and deliver to appropriate areas. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Salary:

$20,484, based on qualifications and experience; plus excellent benefits package.

Position Summary

Patrick Henry Community College is seeking energetic, self-motivated individuals to serve as MHC After 3 Site Directors and Instructors. MHC After 3 is an educational outreach program that coordinates community youth development resources to advance youth development and increase secondary school student academic success through access to high quality out of school time opportunities.

Site Director

Responsible for daily operations of the program, data collection and tracking; supervising site staff; communicating with families; building relationships with the host community and students; overseeing all program activities; program implementation; promote program successes; identify areas of program needs; working with leadership for site level planning; maintaining positive public relations; communications with students, school faculty & staff, and student families; recruit, engage and educate participants; mentor students in a variety of learning and life experiences, and support environments that are safe, healthy, and conducive to student learning. Assist in gathering and entering student participation, development, and achievement data for program evaluation efforts. Responsible for regular communications with teacher, parents, administrators; scheduling programming and transportation, etc. Site Directors also serve as Instructors leading educational and enrichment programming with small groups middle and high school students participating in MHC After 3 as specified in the Instructor description below.

Instructor

Leads educational and enrichment programming with small groups middle and high school students participating in MHC After 3. Responsible for designing and delivery of specialized programs in fields such as: visual arts, performing arts, college preparedness, robotics, etc. as well as leading instruction of MHC After 3 programs. Responsible for aligning activities with standards for education in accordance with youth development framework; evaluate and report group outcomes to site directors and program manager. Designs outcomes driven lesson plans; recruit, engage and educate participants; mentor students in a variety of learning and life experiences, and support environments that are safe, healthy, and conducive to student learning. Program specific tasks may be associated with the following subject areas:

Hourly Rate:

Minimum $12.00 an hour. These are hourly wage positions with no health benefits. Scheduled work hours will range from 10 to 29-hours per week.

Position Summary

Patrick Henry Community College is actively recruiting Transportation Specialists (Bus Drivers) to transport students for approved athletic, academic, and college sponsored activities.  Drivers will be expected to drive carefully and in compliance with traffic regulations and responsible for passenger safety in and around the bus.  Drivers will instruct passengers in safety precautions and practices and maintain discipline; reporting unruly behavior to trip supervisors as necessary.  Drivers will inspect, sweep, and clean trash from the bus and perform routine maintenance checks to include, water, gas, and oil as needed to maintain proper vehicle operation. Drivers will also keep operational records and complete simple reports.

Hourly Rate:

Minimum $10.00, this is a 29-hour per week hourly wage position with no health benefits.
