Joe Nathan Gravely earned an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing from PHCC in 1975. He holds a Bachelor of Science from Averett University and a Master of Science from Radford University. Currently Associate Professor of Nursing at PHCC, Gravely developed and implemented the Nurse Aide program at the college. He is a member of the Virginia Nurses Association, the American Nurses Association, and the Virginia Council of Associate Degree Nurse Educators. He is the founding pastor of New Jerusalem Apostle Church and a Diocesan Bishop for the Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina Churches for World Assemblies of Restoration. He serves on the Advisory Committee for Southern Area Agency on Aging and at Martinsville High School. He is an instructor for the American Red Cross and the American Heart Association. Gravely has had several articles published by the National Organization for Associate Degree Nursing, the Minority Nurse Newsletter, and Virginia Nurses Today.
