Patrick Henry Community College (PHCC) is a comprehensive two-year college of the Virginia Community College System, serving the City of Martinsville and the counties of Henry and Patrick.  PHCC serves approximately 3,500 credit and almost 2,700 non-credit students annually and, consistently ranks among the top ten “Most Tech-Savvy” community colleges in the country by the Center for Digital Education. Duties and Responsibilities:

Patrick Henry Community College is seeking an individual to serve as the SNAPET Grant Specialist. This position is responsible for the administrative and programmatic duties supporting the SNAPET (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Employment and Training) and TARE (Training Assessment Retention Employment) grant programs. The successful candidate will work closely with the SNAPET Grant Coordinator and the TARE Program Coordinator. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assist students with applications for college, financial aid and scholarships necessary for first-time students; refer students, as necessary, to specialists in admissions and records, financial aid, special needs, and academic advisors/program heads; apply knowledge of Workforce training programs and PHCC academic programs when advising students of training options at PHCC; ensure that PHCC remains in compliance with both grant guidelines by retaining a student file on each recipient of grant funds, with each file containing all required documentation as dictated by the grant monitor; collect and maintain student outcome data; create student activity reports as requested; follow up with grant recipients and monitor such things as credentials attained, job placement, wages, and other demographics to demonstrate performance of grants;  and other duties as assigned.

This position is grant funded and is contingent upon renewal of funding.

Hourly Rate:

Minimum $11.77, this is a 20-hour per week hourly wage position with no health benefits.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Patrick Henry Community College is seeking an individual to serve as the SNAPET Grant Coordinator. The successful candidate will work closely with workforce development and community college stakeholders to help clients 18 years or older receiving SNAP benefits from Henry-Martinsville Department of Social Services upgrade their skills through workforce training.  The position, which provides outreach at locations easily accessible and frequented throughout the region, will identify students to participate in targeted education and training programs, and services utilizing resources and locations external to the college as needed; engage potential students in one-on-one and small-group advising and coaching activities; facilitate development of individual career and training plans for students, using Virginia Wizard and other tools; assist students with college, financial aid, and scholarship applications to increase access to higher education and workforce training; refer students, as necessary, to specialists in admissions & records, financial aid, special needs, and academic advisors/program heads; collaborate with Henry-Martinsville Department of Social Services, One Stop Career Centers, VEC,  other workforce agencies and community organizations to recruit students (primarily SNAP recipients) to workforce training programs; collect and maintain student outcome data; create student activity reports as requested; and other duties as assigned.

Position Summary:

Patrick Henry Community College is seeking a professional and team player to serve as an Upward Bound Math & Science (UBMS) Advisor. The UBMS Advisor provides college and career guidance to high school students and develops working relationships with students through personal contact. This individual supervises students by overseeing and leading classes, assists seniors in applying to colleges, provides financial aid guidance to students and families, and prepares and conducts value-clarification, decision making, and career exploration seminars.  Other duties include preparing announcements, newsletters, and outreach materials; update the UBMS webpage; chaperone day and overnight trips; assist in recruitment and selection of students for the program; and provide administrative support to the Director.  Position requires flexible hours including some evenings and a minimum of one Saturday per month.

This position is funded 100% by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education and is contingent upon renewal of grant funding.  

Salary:

Minimum $31,979 based on qualifications and experience, plus excellent benefits package.

MHC After 3 is an educational outreach program that coordinates community youth development resources to advance youth development and increase secondary school student academic success through access to high quality out of school time opportunities.

Position Summary

Patrick Henry Community College is actively recruiting Transportation Specialists (Bus Drivers) to transport students for approved athletic, academic, and college sponsored activities.  Drivers will be expected to drive carefully and in compliance with traffic regulations and responsible for passenger safety in and around the bus.  Drivers will instruct passengers in safety precautions and practices and maintain discipline; reporting unruly behavior to trip supervisors as necessary.  Drivers will inspect, sweep, and clean trash from the bus and perform routine maintenance checks to include, water, gas, and oil as needed to maintain proper vehicle operation. Drivers will also keep operational records and complete simple reports.
