You must plan to be a PHCC student in order to take the placement test, we DO NOT allow students to take the placement test who do not plan to enroll at PHCC.
An application for admission MUST be on file in the Admissions Office prior to taking the placement test.
- Bring your PHCC Student ID # (EMPLID)… required to take the test.
- Due to new testing guidelines, a VALID Government issued Photo I.D. must be presented at time of test. ( DMV issued License, Learners Permit, or Photo ID, Passport, or Military ID)
- No appointment required. Tests are administered on a first-come first-served walk-in basis. Early arrival is advised, as seating is limited and tests do fill up.
- There is no fee to take the placement test.
- The test is untimed, but generally it takes an average of two hours to complete each portion of the test.

Click the "myPHCC LOGIN" link at the top of the website.
Enter your user name and password to login
Once you're logged on, click the VCCS SIS:Student Information System link
Search for a Class...
Self Service -> Enrollment -> Class Search/Browse Catalog
Select the Institution and Term that you want to search for classes
Enter the Course Prefix in the Course Subject box and the Course Number in the Course Number box ( i.e. ENG 111) and Search
Self Service ->Enrollment ->Enrollment: Add Classes
Enter the class number (example 22079) or Search for Class to view the Schedule of Classes.
After entering all Class Numbers, Proceed to Step 2 of 3
Check the classes that you entered and if correct Finish Enrolling
View Results of all classes added; a green check indicates you successfully enrolled, a red "X" indicates you are unable to add this class.
Self Service -> Enrollment: Drop Classes
Select the classes that you wish to drop.
Select Drop Selected Classes
Confirm your selection and then Finish Dropping
View your results and then view My Class Schedule you may also print your schedule
If you drop a class after the last day to withdraw, the grade automatically becomes an "F"
If you drop a class after the last date to add but before the last day to withdraw, you will receive a grade of "W"
Be sure to verify whether your grade is "W" or "F" and refer questions to the Registrar's Office

If you are unable to see your account balance, Under the Personal Information section select User Preferences from the Student Center page, select Patrick Henry Community College and SAVE

Associate in Arts and Sciences degrees provide the first two years of instruction in major fields that prepare students for transfer to colleges and universities to complete baccalaureate degrees.

Associate in Applied Science degrees provide two years of instruction to develop knowledge and skills leading to employment or career advancement in specialized fields. These degrees are not intended as transfer programs.
Transfer Credit: Provided certain criteria are met, the college routinely accepts credit from similarly accredited institutions. Creditsearned at institutions not so accredited can be evaluated provided detailed information regarding course content, texts, evaluation methods, faculty credentials, etc. are provided. Transfer credit evaluations are based on official transcripts from the previous institutions. No credit is given for courses with grades lower than ”C”. A transfer student may be advised to repeat a course if it is clearly to the student’s advantage in order to make satisfactory progress in the curriculum. Students with a minimum of 20 semester hours of transferred credit from a four-year college or university may be exempt from SDV 108.
Students with educational credentials from foreign countries who wish to receive transfer credit for any of that work must have a credit evaluation provided to the admissions office from a college-approved foreign credential evaluation service (PHCC catalog). The student must absorb all costs. PHCC faculty makes the final decisions on the granting of credit at PHCC. Questions about any of these policies may be referred to the Coordinator of Admissions and Records (276) 656-0311.

The IATCC offers a variety of services including:
- Placement Testing
- Career Counseling
- Job Search Assistance
- Job Skills Assistance Seminars
The primary purpose for the IATCC is to promote active curricular and course selection, decision making, lifelong learning, and career development skills. Key services provided through the Center include computerized placement testing, academic counseling, online services for career exploration, online resources for career development, and online job posting. The Center also offers retention services such as the faculty-based Early Warning Program, Peer/Faculty Mentoring, and developing career and transfer specific courses aimed at "reality counseling" related to transfer and career planning issues. The IATCC staff also provides assessment tools for career interest, personality characteristics and other special concerns.
A planned assessment program acquaints students with a general knowledge of their academic strengths and weaknesses. Students entering any degree, diploma, or certificate program are required to take the college placement test and are encouraged to do this as early as possible. Students must take these tests before enrolling in many courses such as mathematics, English, accounting, psychology, sociology, history, many computer classes, economics, biology courses, etc. Tests are administered in the Integrated Advising, Testing, and Career Center and at off-campus locations. Test results are carefully interpreted and discussed with each student and are used only for counselling and placement and do not affect college admission. Students who need developmental work to obtain appropriate skills and competencies will be advised of the requirements and availability of these courses. The Placement Test is a comprehensive, computer-adaptive testing system that helps place students into appropriate courses and maximizes the information postsecondary schools need to ensure student success. This test offers placement in writing and mathematics. This allows us to better assist students in the areas of advising, course placement, and retention services.
