Non-Profit Leadership and Management

Non-credit programs and courses are specialized offerings designed to provide the educational, cultural and workforce development needs of the lifelong learners in our community. Although no college credit will be awarded for these programs, students may earn continuing education units (CEU's) or Continuing Professional Education (CPE), which is recorded permanently by the office of lifelong learning. A workforce development student obtains occupational education and skills by participating in any of the following: open enrollment occupational courses and services; customized training and services; IT industry certification and testing; and transitional programs and services.

AWARD:  Certificate of completion.

LENGTH:   2 Semesters

PURPOSE:
In collaboration with the Non-profit Leaders Network and the United Way of Martinsville/Henry County, Patrick Henry Community College has developed a series of classes that provide an effective foundation for those in leadership or aspiring to serve in leadership positions in the non-profit sector. There are a total of 9 classes available for non-profit leadership and management certification.

OCCUPATIONAL OBJECTIVES:
BUSC 501 Introduction to Nonprofits
BUSC 502 Program Management and Evaluation
BUSC 503 Foundations of Non-Profit Staff and Volunteer Management
BUSC 504 Funds Development and Marketing
BUSC 505 Major Fund Development and Management
BUSC 507 Foundations of Non-Profit Leadership
BUSC 508 Non-Profit Leadership
BUSC 509 Non-Profit Financial Operations
BUSC 511 Developing Human Resources and Effective Boards

POTENTIAL CERTIFICATION:
Upon successful completion of the above courses, the student will be awarded a certificate in Non-profit Leadership and Management.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
Non-Credit Course Registration. Pre-registration is required for non-credit courses. Registrations are accepted on a firstcome, first-served basis. Completed non-credit registration form and payment must be received no later than 7 days prior to the start date of the class(es) in which the student intends to enroll. If paying by cash, students can register in the Frith Economic
Development Center at PHCC Main Campus, room 118 or 111. If paying by credit card, students can enroll online, or call (276) 656-0354 to register by phone. If paying by check, students can call (276) 656-0260 or email ; leave your name, mailing address, and phone number. A registration form and class information will be mailed with a return envelope.
