Patrick Henry Community College - Career Readiness Certificate

Stand Out From The Crowd!

The National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) is a portable credential that can be presented to an employer anywhere in the United States. The NCRC confirms to employers that you possess basic workplace skills in Reading for Information, Applied Math, and Locating Information – the three skills that most jobs require. Set yourself apart from other applicants! Based on established ACT WorkKeys assessments, the CRC gives you an edge when seeking a new position and verifies that you have the skills to handle common workplace tasks.

A NCRC credential will enable you to:

  • Earn a transferable, transportable State and National credential.
  • Enhance your resume and show perspective employers concrete proof of your skills.
  • Improve your success in entry-level jobs.
  • Enhance your chance for promotion.

To earn a NCRC, individuals undergo assessments related to reading, applied math, and locating information through the ACT WorkKeys skills testing program. Individuals can earn three levels of NCRC, based on their assessment performance:

Gold – signifies that a recipient possesses skills for 90% of jobs profiled by WorkKeys in the three areas.

Silver – signifies that a recipient possesses skills for approximately 65% of the jobs profiled by the WorkKeys in these areas.

Bronze – signifies that a recipient possesses skills for approximately 30% of the jobs profiled by WorkKeys in these three specific skill areas.

Each certificate is accompanied by a document defining the skills attained by testing; this multi-level approach enables employees to advance through the Gold and Silver certifications as they refine their skills.
